I felt strongly
that, if I was going to tell anyone about what Gatsby told me, then it would
have been Nick. Besides, it involves him anyway. Gatsby wanted him to invite
Daisy to his house so that way Daisy will be forced to meet with him. I told
him the story of when Daisy and I were younger. I wanted him to see the whole
story of all of us, meaning Daisy and Gatsby and even myself. I guess you could say that it was the skeptic
in me, but I never though that this little plan would work out. To me, it
seemed that Gatsby was jumping the gun and getting ahead of himself. I wanted
to see where this whole thing would go, so that's why I forewarned Nick of
Gatsby's request.
Gatsby did get carried away with the dream of getting Daisy back but I was rooting for him. I don't think it was a good thing that you got me involved because I never really did anything in the situation to help either of them. I felt like I was watching the whole thing unfold and was dragged into it. I wouldn't have felt left out or upset if you never told me about the story of you, Daisy, and Gatsby. My life would have been simpler, and maybe I wouldn't have moved back out to the Middle West if you never told me. In fact Gatsby may have never died if you didn't tell me about it.
ReplyDeleteam sorry for getting you involved, but I was only doing what Gatsby asked. I did what I felt was necessary. It was a shame that the events unfolded the way they did, but sometimes fate happens that way.
